WHY APediatric Dentist?

Pediatric dentistry is a dental specialty that focuses on the oral health of kids. After completing general dentistry training in dental school, a pediatric dentist completes an additional 2-3 years of specialty training focusing on the unique needs of infants, children, adolescents, and individuals with special health needs.

DENTAL Emergencies in Chino

If your child has suffered a blow to the head, has lost consciousness, or any other life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency room. If your child faces a dental emergency, call us immediately. We are always here to assist when your child’s dental health is at risk. Here are some tips on dealing with urgent dental situations:

Toothache

If your child is in pain from a dental issue, please contact our office to arrange a visit.

Facial Swelling

If you observe facial swelling or a swollen cheek, please contact our office right away. However, if the swelling nears the eye or is impacting your child's breathing, this constitutes a medical emergency. In such cases, please dial 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Broken Tooth/Filling

If your child breaks or chips a permanent tooth, please attempt to locate the tooth fragments, apply a cold compress to the affected area, and contact our office to schedule an appointment.

Knocked Out Permanent Teeth

If your child knocks out a permanent tooth, it is considered a dental emergency. Place the tooth in milk, not water, and contact our office right away. Avoid touching the root of the tooth. If this occurs at school or during a sporting event, seek out an athletic trainer or school nurse who may have Sav-A-Tooth Solution to help preserve the tooth cells.

Knocked Out Baby Teeth

If your child loses a baby tooth, it cannot be reinserted into the mouth. The main concern is to avoid harming the emerging permanent tooth underneath. Rinse your child's mouth and have them bite on a cold washcloth. Contact our office to determine if an appointment is necessary. Locate the tooth and encourage your child with the idea of the tooth fairy! It's said that the tooth fairy is especially generous with unexpected tooth losses!
